The Education and Employment Research Center (EERC) is a nonprofit research organization based in Rutgers University’s School of Management and Labor Relations. EERC’s research examines the intersection between education and work with the goal of being an evidence-based resource for policy and practice. Our work focuses on issues of equity and quality in education and training for students and workers, the institutions that serve them, and the broader economy, in the context of the ever-changing labor market.

Position Information

Description of Position:
This role is ideal for a student interested in exploring applied policy research on education and its role in promoting social mobility. The EERC produces high quality, mixed methods research on a range of topics including how college students make decisions about programs and careers, how community colleges contribute to economic development, and many other current issues in education and workforce development policy. The student may have the opportunity to be involved in the following activities, depending on project timelines and student interest: literature review, data coding and analysis, interview transcription, observation and note taking during interviews, survey analysis, and report/memo writing and editing. We are excited to have students join our collaborative, friendly team for a week!
Pre-requisites or Requirements:
Externs will be required to complete the CITI program training for social / behavioral researchers prior to the externship.

Ideal candidates have an interest in a career in applied research and/or education/workforce policy.
