Organization Description:
The Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM) Armaments Center (DEVCOM AC) focuses on the research, development, and maintenance of U.S. Army weapon and munition systems. Engineers of various backgrounds work on software and hardware for current and future armament systems.
As a site mentor, I am specifically in the Weapons and Software Engineering Center (WSEC). We focus on weapons, platforms, and all software to support them.
Specific areas of expertise include software development, AI/ML development, data analytics, robotics/computer/electrical/mechanical engineering, and modeling & simulation.

Position Information

Description of Position:
As a site mentor, I approach my time with the student(s) from a general career and professional development standpoint, with hands on tour and personalized discussion. Students can expect to:
- Learn what it's like to work as an Army Civilian and in federal service
- Meet with various career professionals, with opportunities to ask questions and learn from different experiences
- Discuss and plan ways to work on different professional development areas, such as resume building, interviewing, and networking
- If applicable, learn and practice writing Python code and/or basics of AI/ML and data analytics The experience is best done in-person, with each day being interactive and engaging.
Pre-requisites or Requirements:
This externship experience is best for students with STEM experience and goals, specifically in fields like computer science and engineering. Other experience is not necessary for this externship.
