Organization Description:
The office of the Dean at Douglass Residential College is the central administration for all programs, buildings, and activities at DRC. The Dean's office works with faculty and staff on strategic planning and future initiatives, building and campus improvements, alumni engagement and fundraising, communications, and connections with university administration.

In addition, the dean serves as the Director of the Institute for Women's Leadership, which is dedicated to the study of women and gender, to advocacy on behalf of gender equity, and to the promotion of women’s leadership locally, nationally and globally.

Position Information

Description of Position:
Higher Education Administration - shadow the dean in meetings with university administrators, alumni, donors, and Douglass and IWL staff. Have strategy discussions prior to and following meetings, and have the opportunity to see how higher education administration systems work.

Strategic Planning - work on a project related to assessing how Douglass and or IWL is meeting the benchmarks and metrics related to the implementation of our strategic plan. Externs will be given guidelines for outcomes, but will be asked to come up with their own approach to assessment or evaluation based on their experience, knowledge, and skills. Present their project to the Douglass staff and Dean.

Alumni Engagement and Fundraising - meet with alumni and prospective donors interested in supporting Douglass programs and students and share their experiences as a DRC student.
Prerequisites/Requirements: While first-year students are welcome, this may be more relevant for students who have more than one year of Douglass experience.
