The Education and Employment Research Center (EERC) is a nonprofit research organization based in Rutgers University’s School of Management and Labor Relations. EERC’s research and evaluation examines the intersection between education and work with the goal of being an evidence-based resource for policy and practice. Our work focuses on issues of equity and quality in education and training for students and workers, the institutions that serve them, and the broader economy, in the context of the changing labor market associated with the future of work.

Position Information

Description of Position:
This role is ideal for a student interested in exploring the field of higher education research and policy, especially with an eye towards community and technical colleges. The EERC produces high quality, mixed methods research on community college students, education policy, workforce development, and student decision making. The student may have the opportunity to be involved in the following activities, depending on project timelines and student interest: literature review, data coding and analysis, interview transcription, observation and note taking during interviews, survey analysis, and report/memo writing and editing. We are excited to have students join our collaborative, friendly team for a week!
Pre-requisites or Requirements:
*requires the student to complete an online CITI training program at least 2 weeks prior to the start of their externship.
*interest in learning about education and workforce policy and/or research and evaluation
* good note taking ability
*willingness to come to the office (in-person) 2 days
