Organization Description:
The Combat Capabilities Development Command Armaments Center (DEVCOM AC) is at the forefront of research and development enabling and improving lethality for the soldier. With that comes a slew of technical experts who maintain current technologies and look at where things can be improved and expanded.
Within DEVCOM AC is the Weapon and Software Engineering Center (WSEC) and the Armament Software Engineering Center (ASEC). We focus on the development of cutting edge software applications as well as the maintenance of current programs/projects. You cannot have software without proper hardware, so we also work closely with technicians and various types of engineers to ensure the final product is the best it can be.

Position Information
Description of Position:
Discussions about professional development, life after college, addressing any questions or concerns regarding interviews/resumes/etc., soft skills, and other career development topics.
Overview of what it's like to work in and for the U.S. Army, specifically the Armaments Center. Crash course in the organization.
For in person students, informal visits to various facilities at Picatinny and chats with those in different roles within the group.
For those fully virtual, Teams calls will be set up with various scientists, engineers, leaders, and other personnel to discuss different lines of work and any career/professional questions the student may have.
Technical assignments will be designed and discussed based on students interest. Primary technical areas able to be shared primarily include Python coding, MATLAB basics, software development standards, and professional technical writing/communications.

Pre-requisites or Requirements:
Ideally, computer science/computer engineering/software related fields would fit best. HOWEVER, most STEM areas can be covered during an externship here.
