Position Information
Description of Position:
The Collections Curatorial Assistant (CCA) assists the Natural History (NH) Bureau Registrar with the management of the diverse NH collections of the New Jersey State Museum (NJSM). The selected applicant will receive basic training in museum object handling, storing, organizing, and record keeping, and will work hands-on with collection objects (under supervision). The NH collections of the NJSM include fossils of all kinds, taxidermy, life-like models, modern shells, bones, eggs, a herbarium, and fluid-preserved specimens, among others. If you ever wanted to see and work in a museum "behind the scenes" this is your chance.

This externship is fully in-person. Students who receive this externship will be required to physically go to the Trenton location during their externship. Travel expenses can be reimbursed by Douglass.
Pre-requisites or Requirements:
All applicants are welcome; science majors and students with museum interests are encouraged. Strong organization skills will be helpful; ability to follow directions is a must. We encourage people who are detail-oriented and take initiative, to apply.
