Single-Cell Transcriptomic Cell Type Annotation Using AI for Spinal Cord Injury Study
Project Summary
This summer project focuses on applying artificial intelligence (AI) to annotate cell types from single-cell transcriptomic data in the context of spinal cord injury (SCI). The Cai lab has demonstrated that GSX1 gene therapy effectively restores locomotor and sensory functions in rodent models of SCI. The project is directly related to Biomedical Informatics and Health AI, aiming to enhance our understanding of cellular responses and mechanisms underlying SCI. In addition, we have generated extensive single-cell transcriptomic datasets for the proposed study and have developed a computational pipeline for functional gene discovery. The project seeks to identify and classify distinct cell populations that responded to GSX1 gene therapy by leveraging AI techniques, providing insights that could inform therapeutic strategies and improve patient outcomes.
